It’s plant release time at Cliff House. Native seedlings that were grown onsite and planted out 2 years ago are being released from the kikuyu grass that grows up and threatens to suffocate them. Once a small area is cleared around each plant, the kikuyu can then be sprayed back. When the plantings reach a certain height, the kikuyu will not receive sufficient sunlight and dies off naturally.
Although plant release is hard work – the stunning view and rejuvenating winter sunshine make for an enjoyable day in our corner of paradise.
